Supply chain

The flow of materials for the steelwork, cladding, etc for a typical construction project in South Africa is shown on the diagram below. The diagram also shows, though not in detail, some elements of the flow of information between the professions, client, detailer and contractors.

Note that in this diagram the steelwork contractor fills the position of subcontractor to the main contractor.
