Project Overview

The architectural brief was to design and detail a farm shop that would house a bakery, coffee shop, bistro, and a retail area. The structure utilises a portal steel frame cladded externally with sheeting. Internally, the brickwork extends up to the wall plate with an isoboard ceiling.

I wouldn't say there were challenges; it was more a matter of meeting the technical requirements to achieve the desired aesthetic. This was successfully resolved through technical meetings and collaboration.
Benefits of Steel in this Application

This project demonstrates that with clever design, steel can be used for a wide variety of applications beyond its typical uses.

Testimonials

The lean-to roof fixing to the portal frame was neatly done as a round bar it seems; a nice touch to deal with cladding penetration that normally becomes a weak spot in the waterproof envelope.
