Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”, “Terms and Conditions”) carefully before using the www.saisc.co.za website (the “Service”) operated by the Southern African Institute of Steel Construction NPC (SAISC) (“us”, “we”, or “our”).

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned upon your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who wish to access or use the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

 

Description of our service

The SAISC Service enables you to access technical industry content, manage professional membership, and purchase technical publications (such as the “Red Book”) and manuals.

 

Registration and personal information

Visitors and registered users may order and purchase products and services through our Service. 

    • Member Profiles: In order to register as a user, you will be prompted to provide login details and submit certain personal information.
    • Privacy & POPIA: The provisions pertaining to the processing of your personal information are set out in our Privacy Policy, compliant with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
    • Account Security: If you believe your login details are being used by an unauthorised party, please contact the SAISC secretariat immediately.

 

Pricing and tiered discounts

The price of products or services, including any applicable VAT, shall be reflected in the shopping cart.

 

SAISC member pricing

If you are a member of the SAISC, you qualify for preferential pricing on selected products.

    • The pricing will automatically update once you log in to your verified SAISC profile.
    • If you do not have login details or your membership status is not reflecting correctly, please Contact Us before completing your purchase.

 

Student pricing

Students may qualify for preferential pricing on selected books, publications and educational resources.

    • To access these rates, students must Contact Us to provide proof of enrollment.
    • Important: Bulk pricing rates are excluded from student coupon code discounts. These two discount types cannot be combined.

 

Payments

Payment may be made via Credit Card, Debit Card, or EFT.

    • Verification: For card payments, we may require additional information to verify the transaction. We are entitled to withhold delivery or access until such authorisation is obtained.
    • EFT Payments: Products, digital downloads, or event access will only be rendered once the payment has cleared into the SAISC banking account.
    • Authorisation: You warrant that you are fully authorised to use the payment method supplied and that sufficient funds are available.

 

Images and technical content

Illustrative Purposes

Images of books, manuals, or event banners are for illustrative purposes and may not perfectly match the delivered product (e.g., minor cover design changes or updated editions).

 

Product Update

As the SAISC frequently updates technical standards, the product you receive might have minor design differences compared to website images. We assure you that these updates will not negatively affect the quality or technical performance of the product.

 

Delivery of physical goods

Physical Goods (e.g., Printed Manuals) shall be delivered via a courier of our selection:

    • Address: Goods will be delivered to the address selected during the payment process.
    • Timeline: We endeavor to deliver Goods within 5 business days of payment receipt. However, the SAISC is not liable for late deliveries caused by third-party courier services.
    • Risk: Our obligation is fulfilled upon delivery. We are not responsible for loss or unauthorised use of the Goods after they have been delivered.

 

Returns, exchanges, and cancellations

Circumstances for Returns

Returns/exchanges are permitted only if:

    • The incorrect product was delivered.
    • The product is physically damaged or defective upon arrival.

 

Terms for Return

    • Users have 7 days from the date of delivery to request a return.
    • Items must be in original, unused condition with packaging intact.
    • Digital Content: No refunds or returns are permitted for digital downloads or PDF manuals once the file has been accessed.

 

Intellectual property

The Service and its original content (including technical tables, structural data, all SAISC publications, “Red Book” calculations) remain the exclusive property of the Southern African Institute of Steel Construction NPC. Our trademarks and copyrighted technical data may not be used or reproduced without prior written consent.

 

Professional disclaimer (the ‘engineering’ clause)

The technical data, tables, and design aids provided through the Service are for information purposes only. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, the SAISC does not warrant the suitability of this data for any specific structural project. The final responsibility for the application of this information lies solely with the Professional Engineer or competent person in charge of the design.

 

Digital rights management (DRM) & licensing

Upon purchase of a digital publication (PDF), the SAISC grants the User a non-exclusive, non-transferable license for personal or internal business use only. You may not distribute, upload to a shared server, or resell digital content. Each digital file may contain unique watermarking or security features to track unauthorised distribution.

 

CPD credits and event attendance

CPD certificates will only be issued to delegates who have attended the full duration of a qualifying course or webinar. The SAISC reserves the right to withhold certificates if attendance records (digital or physical) show the user was not present. Certificates are issued in the name of the registered attendee only and cannot be transferred.

 
Force majeure (events)

The SAISC shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations (such as hosting a physical event) where such failure results from any cause beyond the SAISC’s reasonable control, including but not limited to: mechanical, electronic, or communications failure, “Acts of God,” or national grid failure (load shedding). In such cases, the SAISC reserves the right to migrate physical events to a digital platform in lieu of a refund.

 

Limitation of liability & disclaimer

“As Is” Basis

The Service and its technical data are provided on an “AS IS” basis.

 

Professional Risk

While we strive for technical accuracy, the SAISC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including structural failure or loss of profit) resulting from the use of our technical manuals or data. Users are encouraged to verify calculations with a registered professional engineer.

 

Governing law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
