Benefits of Steel in this Application

Concrete was cheaper than steel. However if the client went with concrete there would be an additional capex
and opex cost as they would require fans. By being able to roll a tapering stack we calculated there would be a natural draft thus eliminating additional capex and opex costs. The pay back period was in the region of 4 years. Steel was selected as the material of construction due to its strength. The ability to fabricate the Stack in sections off site and transport in large abnormal loads.
